After earning her PhD from Yale University, Catherine was a faculty member at Simmons College and the Ohio State University before joining Queen’s in 1988. She has been a visiting scholar at Princeton University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Miami, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC, and the American University. She held the Sir Edward Peacock chair in political studies from 2013 to 2018. In addition to her research on Latin American politics throughout her career at Queen’s, Professor Conaghan taught courses in American politics throughout her career at Queen’s. She is a dual US-Canadian citizen who votes in her home state of Pennsylvania.
