Mark is a founding partner in a Kingston start-up/technology company, Alcereco Inc. He is a professional engineer with more than 30 years’ experience in the light metals industry. He has held various senior technical and management positions with Alcan and its spinoff Novelis, including direction of the Kingston R&D Centre. He received his PhD from Queen’s University, where he currently holds an adjunct research position. He is credited with many publications, invention records, and patents. Alcereco is a world-leading development and innovation company, specializing in advanced lightweight materials such as scandium alloys, rare earth oxides, specialty ceramics, and graphene. Its team includes more than 25 scientists and engineers, mostly ex-employees of Alcan and Novelis. It was acquired in 2014 by Grafoid Inc., a private Canadian corporation which invests in graphene applications.
