Brian Porter, Teacher, Brockville Historian (Sir John A. Macdonald impersonator)

Brian Porter was born, raised and educated in Peterborough, Ontario. He attained his post secondary education at Carleton University and Ottawa Teachers College. He taught elementary school in Brockville for 32 years, retiring in 1998. As a person very  interested in history, Brian has developed that Interest into several activities and accomplishments. 

He is a founding member of the Brockville Infantry Company, historical re-enactors of the local 1860’s militia. He is an active volunteer with the Brockville Museum, the historic Brockville Railway Tunnel Committee, and the Brockville Probus Club. He has written several booklets of local history. In 2012 he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal

Brian and his wife Renee live in Brockville. For over twenty years Brian and Renee have done historical re-enacting of the 1812 era, the 1860’s, and the 1880’s, portraying Sir John A. and Lady Agnes Macdonald at hundreds of events around Ontario.
